Candy AI Review (2026): What It Is, Pricing, Limits and Privacy

A documentation-based Candy AI review: features, plan prices checked 18 October 2026, tokens, refunds, cancellation, privacy and the 18+ rule.

Documentation-based review

Built from the product's official documentation, pricing and policy pages, not from our own hands-on use. How we review

Adults only. Candy AI is an 18+ service. Its Privacy Notice says the services are intended only for adults who are at least 18, or the age of majority where they live. This review is written for adult readers and contains no explicit content.

How this review was made. This is a documentation-based review. We have not used a paid Candy AI account. Everything below comes from Candy AI’s own homepage, subscriptions page, Terms of Service, Privacy Notice and Underage Policy, all read on 18 October 2026. Where the official pages do not answer a question, we say so. You can read more about our method in how AITried reviews AI.

What Candy AI is

According to the official site, Candy AI is an AI companion platform where you chat with prebuilt or custom AI characters. The homepage groups characters into three categories: girls, anime and guys.

The site describes five main features:

  • Text chat that adapts to your tone and to what you have shared.
  • Voice, with a choice of character voices.
  • Generated images of your companion.
  • Generated video of companions.
  • Memory, which the homepage describes as “advanced personality modeling and memory retention”.

There is also a character builder. The homepage says the library has “over 100 different characters to choose from”. The site is available in English and French, with more languages described as coming soon. Support is offered through a Zendesk help centre.

Who operates it

The homepage, Terms and Privacy Notice all name the same operator: EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta under number C107181, at 56 Central Business Centre, Triq Is-Soll, Santa Venera SVR 1833. The subscriptions page says charges appear as “EverAI” on your bank statement. That is worth knowing, because an unfamiliar name on a statement is a common reason people think they have been charged in error.

If you are unsure whether you are on the real site, see our guide to spotting fake AI app clone sites.

Plans and prices (checked 18 October 2026)

The subscriptions page listed three plans when we read it on 18 October 2026. Prices change, and they may differ by country, so treat this table as a snapshot and check current plans on the official site before you pay.

Plan Price shown Amount billed Renewal wording on the page
12 months $3.99 per month $47.88 “Renews automatically for the same price and term”
3 months $8.99 per month $26.97 “Renews automatically for the same price and term”
1 month $9.99 first month $9.99 “Then renews monthly at $13.99”

A few notes on reading that page:

  • The page shows percentage-off labels measured against a $13.99 monthly reference price. The figure that matters to your bank account is the amount billed, so compare plans on that column.
  • The 1-month plan is cheaper only for the first month. After that, the page says it renews at $13.99 per month.
  • The page says “Additional local taxes may apply”, so the final charge can be higher than the listed price.
  • The payment window also listed a “Payment every 2 weeks billed as $9.79” option and a “Weekly payment billed as $5.6” option. We could not tell from the page which plan, if any, these belong to, or when they are offered.

The homepage lists Visa, Mastercard and several cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, USDC and Litecoin) as payment methods. This matters for refunds, as explained below.

What Premium includes

The subscriptions page lists these “Premium Benefits”:

  • Creating your own AI characters
  • Generating 18+ images and 18+ videos
  • A “Full Live Action Experience” (the page does not define this)
  • Unlimited text messages
  • 100 tokens per month

The page does not say whether every plan length includes every benefit. We assume the list applies to Premium generally, but could not verify a per-plan breakdown.

What the free tier includes

The subscriptions page offers “Join Free” and “Create Free Account” buttons, but does not state the free limits. The Terms of Service fill part of the gap: free users can send about 5 messages, and paid plans give unlimited messaging. That is a very small allowance, so the free tier is closer to a preview than a usable plan.

How tokens work

Candy AI uses tokens on top of the subscription. Here is what the official documents say:

  • Tokens pay for extended features such as image generation and voice notes (Terms of Service).
  • Subscriptions include a monthly allotment, which the Terms describe as “generally 100” and the subscriptions page lists as “100 tokens per month”.
  • You can buy more tokens at any time (homepage).
  • The homepage says “the more detailed your companion, the more tokens you’ll use”.
  • Unused tokens expire when the billing period ends (Terms of Service).
  • Tokens cannot be transferred, traded or exchanged for money (Terms of Service).

What we could not verify: how many tokens a single image, video or voice message costs, and what top-up packs cost. Neither figure appeared on the pages we read. Without them, you cannot work out in advance how far 100 tokens will go. Our guide to what AI companions really cost shows how to estimate this once you can see the in-app numbers.

Billing, cancellation and refunds

This is the section to read twice before you subscribe.

Auto-renewal

The Terms say plans may be billed monthly, quarterly or annually and renew automatically at the end of each period. Price increases are announced before a renewal at the new price.

Cancelling

According to the Terms, you cancel under “Settings / Unsubscribe” inside your account. You keep access until the end of the current billing period and are not charged for the next one. Our general guide to cancelling an AI subscription covers how to keep proof that you cancelled.

Refunds

The refund rules in the Terms are narrow:

Purchase Refund window Main condition
Subscription Within 24 hours of payment Denied if more than 20 tokens have been used
Tokens Within 24 hours of payment Denied once tokens are used
Either n/a Only card purchases are refundable
EU and UK users 14-day withdrawal right Applies to the initial purchase only, not renewals

Two practical points follow. First, if you pay in crypto, the Terms indicate you will not be eligible for a refund. Second, the window is a single day, so a renewal you forgot about is unlikely to be refundable under these terms.

The Terms also say no refunds are given for content removed, or restrictions imposed, because of policy violations.

Privacy: what the policy says

The Privacy Notice we read carries a revision date of 16 October 2026. Here are the points most relevant to a companion app.

Data collected

The notice lists account details (email, nickname, gender, name), an encrypted password, an approximate location inferred from your IP address, your token balance, sign-in records, payment details handled by payment providers, your chat prompts and the AI’s outputs, device and browser information, and cookie data.

Who receives your chats

The notice says data may be shared with payment, hosting, email marketing and moderation providers, and with third-party LLM providers or hosts, who may receive the content of your chat messages. Data may be transferred outside the EU, including to the United States.

Training

The notice says interactions may be aggregated, anonymised or de-identified and then used to train and develop EverAI’s AI models and moderation technology. It also says preparing those datasets may involve human review of de-identified interactions. We did not find an opt-out for training described in the notice.

Retention and deletion

Data type Retention stated in the notice
Account data Three years after your last account activity, or until you request deletion
Financial and transaction data Ten years
Marketing data Until you withdraw consent, or up to two years after your last interaction
Log files Automatically deleted after 30 days

You can request deletion of your account data by emailing support@candymail.ai. The notice says account data is then deleted “without undue delay”, with exceptions for legal obligations, legal claims and contract performance. A Data Protection Officer is listed at DPO@everai.ai.

Age restrictions

The Underage Policy states that users must be 18 or older. Visitors pass an age gate where they affirm they are over 18, and the company says it “may also implement further measures to verify that users are adults, in accordance with local requirements”. A parent who believes a child has used the service can contact support@candymail.ai so the company can block access.

The Terms separately require users to be of legal age to form a binding contract where they live. A self-declared age gate is a weak control, so adults who share devices should keep the account signed out and protected.

Pros and cons

Based only on what the official documents state:

Pros

  • The operator is clearly named, with a registered company number and address.
  • Cancellation is self-service inside account settings, with access kept to the end of the period.
  • Plan totals are shown on the subscriptions page, and the statement name (EverAI) is disclosed.
  • Retention periods are spelled out rather than left vague.
  • EU and UK users get a 14-day withdrawal right on the first purchase.

Cons

  • The free tier is about 5 messages, per the Terms.
  • Tokens per action and top-up prices were not shown on the pages we read.
  • Monthly tokens expire at the end of each billing period.
  • Refunds are limited to 24 hours, card payments only, and low token use.
  • Chat content may go to third-party LLM providers and may be used, after de-identification, for training.
  • Account data is kept for three years after your last activity unless you ask for deletion.

Best for / Avoid if

Best for adults who want a single service combining chat, voice, images and video with custom characters, who are comfortable with a token system, and who will commit to an annual or quarterly plan after reading the terms.

Avoid if you want to try the product properly before paying, you expect to pay in crypto and might want a refund, you need a clear price per image or voice message up front, or you are not comfortable with chat content being processed by third-party AI providers.

Alternatives to consider

Other companion apps make different trade-offs on memory, pricing and privacy. Our guide to Candy AI alternatives compares Replika, Nomi and Kindroid on criteria taken from their official documents. Before choosing any of them, run through how to evaluate an AI companion app before you pay.

What we could not verify

  • Token cost per image, video or voice message, and the price of token top-ups.
  • Which plan the weekly and two-weekly billing options belong to.
  • Whether every Premium benefit applies to every plan length.
  • How memory works in practice, how much it retains and whether you can edit it. Our explainer on AI companion memory covers what to ask.
  • Whether a training opt-out exists anywhere outside the Privacy Notice.

Bottom line

On paper, Candy AI is a clearly operated, adults-only companion service with chat, voice, images and video, sold as monthly, quarterly or annual plans with a 100-token monthly allowance. The documents are reasonably specific on renewal, cancellation and data retention. The weak points are the tiny free tier, expiring tokens with no published per-action cost, a 24-hour card-only refund window, and chat data that may be shared with third-party AI providers. Read the subscriptions page and Terms on the day you sign up, because prices and rules change.
