Is janitor+ Worth It? Janitor AI's Paid Tier Explained (2026)
Is janitor+ worth $12.99 a month? What Janitor AI's paid tier adds, what stays free, how Router credits work, and the cancellation and refund rules.
Built from the product's official documentation, pricing and policy pages, not from our own hands-on use. How we review
Adults only. Janitor AI is an 18+ platform under its Terms of Service. This page is for adult readers and contains no explicit content.
How this page was made. This is a documentation-based assessment. It uses Janitor AI’s own launch announcements, changelog and Terms of Service, read on 18 October 2026. We have not subscribed to janitor+, so we cannot report how much better its memory or rerolls feel in use. Where the official record is silent, we say so.
The short answer
janitor+ is worth paying for if you regularly run long roleplay chats and the free model forgets earlier events, or if busy-hour slowdowns bother you. It is not worth it for casual use, because the free tier keeps unlimited chatting. If your main interest is outside models, remember that Router usage costs extra on top of the subscription.
What janitor+ costs (checked 18 October 2026)
| Item | Price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| janitor+ monthly | $12.99 per month | Launch announcement, 24 June 2026 |
| Annual plan | Not confirmed | No annual price on the official pages we could read |
| Router usage | Per token, at prices shown in settings | Router announcement, 30 July 2026 |
The janitorai.com/plus page loads its content in the browser and did not show a price to us when we checked on 18 October 2026. The $12.99 figure comes from the official launch post. Prices can change, may vary by region or app store, and the Terms say price changes for existing subscribers take effect at the next billing cycle after notice. Check the price at checkout.
Janitor’s own explanation of the price: the extra capacity “requires lots more gpus”, and the company says it priced janitor+ “to hopefully break even”.
What you get
At launch (24 June 2026)
- 5x more context, which the post describes as “improved memory during chats”.
- Unlimited priority messages, for faster responses when usage is high.
- Generous monthly swipes with frontier models, meaning you can regenerate replies using Janitor’s most powerful models.
- A janitor+ badge on your profile.
Added since launch (from the changelog)
| Date | Addition |
|---|---|
| 25 June 2026 | Emoji library for comment reactions (web) and a gold username |
| 26 June 2026 | Early access to the beta short-reply model, jllm-short (web first) |
| 1 July 2026 | Profile Customization page: badge visibility, shiny username, custom username colour |
| 21 July 2026 | GIFs and stickers in comments (web) |
| 30 July 2026 | Access to janitor+ Router, 10% off some popular models, and $5 in launch credits |
The short-reply model was released to everyone on 15 July 2026, so it is no longer a janitor+ exclusive.
What stays free
The launch post is direct: “the version of janitor that you know and love stays exactly the same, and stays completely free.” The company described janitor+ as adding capacity rather than limiting the free tier.
How Router credits work
Router lets subscribers use third-party models through Janitor without setting up an external proxy. Key points from the announcement and the Terms:
- Subscribers only. An active janitor+ subscription is required to buy and use credits.
- Pay per token. Credits are deducted at the price shown when a request starts, based on usage reported by the model provider.
- Charges on failed replies. The Terms say a request may use credits even if it is cancelled, interrupted, filtered or refused after processing begins.
- Final sale. Purchased credits are non-refundable, including unused or expired credits, except as the Terms or law provide.
- Expiry. Janitor reserves the right to expire purchased credits 365 days after purchase.
- Lapse. If your subscription ends, you cannot use your balance until you resubscribe, and the expiry clock keeps running.
- Account deletion cancels all unused credits without refund.
Router also sends your messages to third-party model providers. Our Janitor AI safety guide explains why that matters for privacy.
Billing, cancellation and refunds
From the Terms of Service, last updated 8 October 2026:
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Cancel on the web at Settings, Billing, Manage subscription, or by contacting billing support. Access continues until the end of the period.
- App store subscriptions must be managed and refunded through Apple or Google under their rules.
- No partial refunds for unused time, except where required by law.
- No refund for moderation. Restrictions, filtering or suspension under the content rules do not entitle you to a refund.
- Service changes. If Janitor ends the paid service mid-period for reasons other than your breach, it says it will give a pro rata refund or credit.
Our guide to cancelling an AI subscription covers how to keep proof that you cancelled.
Who janitor+ suits
| You will probably value janitor+ if | You can probably skip it if |
|---|---|
| Your long chats lose track of earlier events | Your chats are short or casual |
| You chat at busy times and hit slow replies | You rarely notice slowdowns |
| You reroll replies often and want better results | You are happy with first replies |
| You want Router access without managing API keys | You already use, and trust, your own proxy |
| You want to support the platform financially | You need predictable monthly costs (Router adds variable charges) |
A note on reliability
On 16 August 2026, Janitor’s changelog reported that “some plus subscribers had much slower generations than expected” for part of the day after a GPU route problem, since fixed. A single incident is normal for an online service, but it shows priority speed is a goal, not a guarantee. If the site is down for everyone, paying will not help.
How janitor+ compares on price
At $12.99 a month, janitor+ costs more than Character.AI’s c.ai+, whose subscription page pricing data showed $9.99 a month on 18 October 2026, and more than Candy AI’s longer plans, though each product offers different things. See is c.ai+ worth it, our Candy AI review and Character.AI alternatives for the details.
Questions to answer before you subscribe
- Do your chats actually lose memory? If your stories stay short, 5x more context will make little difference.
- When do you chat? Priority messages matter most at busy times. If you chat off-peak, the free tier may already feel fast.
- Will you use Router? If so, set a monthly limit for credits in your head before you start, because per-token costs add up on long chats.
- Where will you subscribe? Web subscriptions are cancelled in Janitor’s billing portal; app store subscriptions are cancelled with Apple or Google. Pick the route you will remember.
- Are you comfortable with third-party providers? Router sends messages outside Janitor. Read the provider’s policy first.
If most answers point to light use, stay on the free tier for another month and revisit.
What we could not verify
- Whether an annual janitor+ plan exists, and its price.
- The exact context size on free and paid tiers. “5x” is relative and no token figure was published.
- How many frontier-model swipes “generous monthly swipes” means.
- Current Router prices per model, which are shown only in signed-in settings.
- Regional or app store price differences.
Bottom line
janitor+ is a capacity upgrade rather than a paywall: the free tier keeps unlimited chats, and $12.99 a month buys longer memory, priority speed, better rerolls and some cosmetic extras. It is good value for heavy users whose long stories break down on the free model. Casual users lose little by staying free. If you subscribe mainly for Router, budget for per-token charges on top, and remember that purchased credits are non-refundable and can expire.
